  General Notes:

OBITUARY
Ana Ferran-Graham, who passed away on October 11th,, was one of the original residents in the Algarve. She arrived in 1964 aged 18, fresh from a debutante season and having earned a Cordon Bleu diploma in London, and whilst her parents settled in Monchique she opened her first restaurant in Albufeira adequately named "Ana's, Au Petit Cordon Bleu" which was a huge success, and a favourite of people like Cliff Richard, Tom Jones and the Shadows. These were the heydays of the Algarve and Ana helped starting several discotheques like 7 ½ and Chaminé.
The 1974 revolution brought everything to a stop, and Ana moved back to Monchique to help her parents who were building houses for friends. This is where she met her husband to be, Jean Ferran, a French doctor. She happily moved with him to the South of France where she lived the hard life of a doctor's wife, and where their two children were born. But the call of the Algarve was too strong and the family moved back to Monchique in 1982.
Ana and Jean then opened and ran the hotel "Mons Cicus" on Foia, then the "Barlefante" in Monchique, but the main business was always her house management company "Turifoia", in which she was still working until very recently.
She was deeply involved in the local community, having been a director of the Monchique fire brigade until her health failed her; She was also a Grand Officier of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs and a great support for their charitable work.
She is survived by her loving husband Jean and her two children, Henri and Marie Anne.
Anna will be greatly missed, by family, but also by many of the residents in Foia and Monchique, all the friends and visitors she met, helped, supported, and not least, entertained during her years in the Algarve and France, and all the clients and owners who, over many years and visits, met this beautiful lady.
Farewell and 'bon voyage' to an unforgettable Anna.
