Matilda fled to England, where she remarried, was again widowed in 1346, and then became an Augustinian Canoness at Campsey Priory, where she is buried. Upon his death, the various factions of the de Burghs, now called Burke, began the Burke Civil War for supremacy.

Maud married William Donn DE BURGH 3d Earl of Ulster, son of John DE BURGH and Elizabeth DE CLARE, in 1327. (William Donn DE BURGH 3d Earl of Ulster was born on 17 Sep 1312 and died on 6 Jun 1333.)
