Major General Sir Thomas Graham was born at Agra on 26 January 1842. He died in a London nursing home on 4 November 1925 aged 83, having married Elizabeth Maria Campbell, daughter of Major General Bean of the Bengal Staff Corps in 1869. He became a cadet after the Mutiny, obtaining his commission with the Royal Bengal Artillery in 1858. He fought at Hazara in 1868 and went through the whole of the Afghan War. He was part of the forced march commanded by General Roberts from Kabul to the relief of Kandahar and subsequently served in Burma. Thomas was in command of a force sent to repel the Tibetans invading Sikkim in 1888, for which his capable leadership was recognized with the award of the CB. In 1891 he had command of a Tamu column in the Manipur Expedition and retired in 1894. He received the KCB in 1908[18]. At his funeral conducted at St George's. Camberley, his coffin was transported on a gun carriage in accordance with military honours accorded by the Royal Horse Artillery[19].


Thomas married Elizabeth Maria Campbell BEAN, daughter of Maj. Gen. John William Frederick BEAN and Emily Lucy Elizabeth CAMPBELL, on 12 Apr 1869 in Rawal Pindi, Bengal, India.1 (Elizabeth Maria Campbell BEAN was born on 7 Feb 1852 in Rawal Pindi, Bengal, India, christened on 24 Mar 1852 in Rawal Pindi, Bengal, India 4 and died on 29 Dec 1938 in Camberley, Surrey, England.)
