General Notes: BIOGRAPHY: She was the eldest daughter of the Rev Robert Taylor of Clifton Campville Staffordshire; her mother was the only daughter and heiress of John Watkins of Clifton Hall.After her husband Henry died she and her son Jocelyn returned to Carlow, let Everton and Old Derrig, and acquired Belmont, a bigger and more attractive house in a beautiful setting; interestingly it had been built by a Vigors. Elizabeth married Lt. Gen. Henry THOMAS, son of Rev. Dr. William Bartolomew THOMAS and Anna Jocelyn DAVIDSON, in 1837. (Lt. Gen. Henry THOMAS was born about 1790 and died on 22 Sep 1858 in Warrington Lodge, Norwood, England.) |
