Stephen Killin: I having been trying to re-read a report of the shooting of Gilbert Rawson which took place outside Punchestown House, County Kildare, and was reported in The Observer in 1798. The report was once publicly available, but appears to have been withdrawn to a paid service. Gilbert survived long enough to tell the story, but died soon afterwards (Will proved 1799). Punchestown House had been assigned to him by his father James in 1794, after his mother, Anne had died there in 1793.
