Edward Herbert Nightingale was born on 15 April 1821.1 He was the son of Alexander Malcolm Nightingale and Marianne Beaver.2 He married Sophia Blackall, daughter of Lt.-Gen. Robert Blackall.1 He died on 5 May 1856 at age 35.1
He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 23rd Regiment Madras Light Infantry.1

(Sophia Carden Bell BLACKALL was born on 2 Feb 1833 in Barrackpore, West Bengal, India and was christened on 10 Jul 1833 in Barrackpore, West Bengal, India.)
