"This takes us back to John Longfield, of Denbigh, Wales, who also arrives in Dublin in the Cromwellian period. His son, Robert Longfield mysteriously (i.e. I can't see why) receives large grants of lands in Westmeath and Clare, as a direct consequence of the "commission of grace", when James VII/II replaced Lord Lieutenant Ormond with Catholic Richard Talbot (now Earl of Tyrconnel). Robert Longfield thus became a member of the landed gentry, at Kilbride in the county Meath."

John married before 1652.
