ELINOR CANTERBURY According to a book entitled "Glasney College" by J Whetter Benedict Canterbury ( Elinor's great nephew) a bachelor in degrees was instituted in 1395. His name suggests he was not of local origin, but he did have some Cornish connection, holding a prebend at Probus before 1387. In that year he exchanged this for the rectory of Camborne. In 1395 he became Official - Peculiar in Cornwall . His long tenture of the Camborne rectory, until his death in 1426, and his position as Canon of Glasney, also held until his death, suggests he also became firmly part of the Cornish scene.
