General Notes: Capt. George; b. Larne 1788 May 1; d. Mhow, Indore [now Madhya Pradesh] 1823 Nov. 1 (will 1820 Aug. 3 proved Nov. 22. Cadet 1804; in India as ensign 1805 Mar. 18; Lt 21st Native Infantry, May 5430; was given command of a light company formed in 1808; sub-assistant, com-miss-ary general, Jara by 1815; thought to be the Lt Casemont who was wounded in the capture of Chandra 1816; adjutant 1817; 3rd local cavalry 1819; Capt. 21st Native Infantry 1820 Dec. 19; brigade major Rohilkhand, NW Provinces [now Uttar Pradesh], 1820; brigade major & post-master Mhow; brigade major & barrack master, Bareilly, Rohilkhand, 1821; brigade major, Mhow, 1822411. m. at Bareilly 1821 Apr. 16 Sarah ('Sally'), 7th dau. of the late Thomas Chadwick, 18th Light Dragoons, and his wife Sarah, née Lockwood. She was bapt. 1802. After his death she m. surgeon James Graham of the Bengal Army who came from Drumbo, Co. Down. George married Sarah CHADWICK, daughter of Thomas CHADWICK and Sarah LOCKWOOD, on 16 Apr 1821 in Bareilly, Utar Pradesh, India. (Sarah CHADWICK was born in 1802 in Barnascounce, Tipperary, Ireland.) |
