U2 Anne Boyd, b / /181x ( , India?), d 26 /Oct /1880 ( ), bu , m John Macdonald. d 1871, Lieut.-Gen. Indian Army; served many years in India, including Gwailior Campaign, 1843 (medal and clasp), in which he was present at the actions of Punniar and Maharajpore, both fought on the same day at places twelve miles apart, having been sent from the former place to the latter with dispatches which he succeeded in delivering, although severely wounded, two officers employed in the same service being killed;
[Lived: subsequently resided in Co. Chester, Eng., and came to Canada in 1871, and settled at Peterborough, Co. Peterborough ]
ARMS: Quarterly; 1. Arg., a lion rampant gu; 2, or, a dexter arm in armour couped at the elbow in fess ppr., the hand also ppr. Holding a cross crosslet fitched gu.; 3, a lymphad oars in action and sails furled, sa., flags flying gu.; 4, per pale arg. And vert, a salmon naiant ppr. Crest: A dexter arm in armour embowed, wielding a sword fess ways, the point to the sinister, all ppr. Motto: Per Mare, Per Terras


John married Anne BOYD, daughter of Capt. Gardiner BOYD and Arabella CHADWICK, on 29 Dec 1835 in Dacca, Bengal, India. (Anne BOYD died on 26 Oct 1880.)

At Dacca, Lieut. John Macdonald, 50th regt. N.I., to Anne, daughter of the late Capt. Gardiner Boyd of the same regiment, and niece of Major Blackall, commanding the corps.
