Captain H C A Heyman The East Yorkshire Regiment Our ref 00263 - please quote in all correspondence Thank you for your recent letter regarding the above gentleman. We have been able to find some information. No service papers or artifacts are held in the archives or museum of Captain H C A Heyman, however the following information has been found in our library from Army lists, Regimental Magazines, War Diaries, and other collections. Captain H C A Heyman was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant into the East Yorkshire Regiment on 30 August 1923. He went to the 2^nd Battalion where he remained throughout his career. 30 August 1925 Captain H C A Heyman was promoted to Lieutenant and on 11 September 1932 he was appointed Adjutant. On 22 February 1935. Captain H C A Heyman was promoted to Captain and remained Adjutant of the 2^nd Battalion. On 28 February 1935 Captain H C A Heyman died of pneumonia at Aldershot and was buried at the Military Cemetery, Aldershot on 1 March 1935. All Captain H C A Heyman's service appears to have been with the 2^nd Battalion in the UK. He seems to have been an active sportsman. As Adjutant Captain H C A Heyman would have been responsible for the discipline of the junior officers and was the Commanding Officer's Executive Officer.

THE SNAPPER April 1935 OBITUARY. CAPT. H. C. A. HEYMAN.
It is with the dcepest regret that we have to record the death of Capt. H. C. A. Heyman, who died in the Cambridge Hospital of pneumonia on the 28th February.
He was commissioned on the 30th August, 1923, from Sandhurst and joined the 2nd Battalion at Lichfield on the 1st October 1928. He was a good all-round athlete and quickly made his mark in the Battalion. He and Capt. Spicer together were largely instru-mental in working up a Battalion Rugby XV after the Battalion's return home from abroad. The present high standard of Rugger in the Battalion is due in a great measure to their efforts. "Tiny" was an unusually hardworking forward and an untiring coach, with a happy knack of inspiring his side to the greatest enthusiasm.
He was a very useful cricketer both with the bat and ball, and also represented the Regiment in the Army Tennis Championships.
He was promoted Lieutenant on the 30th August, 1925, and on the llth September, 1932, was appointed Adjutant of the 2nd Battalion - the Battalion in which he spent all his service.
As Adjutant he did invaluable work for the Battalion. His high sense of duty, his ability and, above all, his charm of manner and sense of humour enabled him to rise to all occasions. He seemed destined for an exceptional career, and his loss is a severe one for the Regiment.
He was taken ill just as lie was about to sit for the entrance examination for the Staff College, and was actually promoted Captain only seven days before he died.
He was married in April last year. To his widow and his mother we extend our deepest sympathy.
His sudden death at the early age of 32 has been a grievous shock to his many friends.
In him the Regiment has lost an able and devoted servant, and we have lost a very charming and lovable friend.

Henry married Mary Vavasour (Molly) LLOYD DRIVER MBE, daughter of Dr. Henry LLOYD DRIVER and Amy Vavasour BERRIDGE, on 17 Apr 1934. (Mary Vavasour (Molly) LLOYD DRIVER MBE was born between Jul and Aug 1909 in Portsmouth, Hampshire, England ³.)
