Capt. John Irvine ("Jack") GRAHAM CBE, RN 1
General Notes: Source Eric Preedy: Her husband, who is the focus of my interest - Customs and Excise history - was the head of the uniformed branch of the British Customs and Excise, known as the Waterguard. Formerly a Royal Navy captain until 1907 when he joined Customs, he was appointed in 1912 as Inspector General of the Waterguard, retiring from Customs in 1922. He was born on 17 July 1862 and died in Chilbolton, Hampshire on 10 December 1947 aged 85. John married Hazel Dorothy GRAHAM, daughter of Maj. Gen. Sir Thomas GRAHAM K. C. B. and Elizabeth Maria Campbell BEAN, in 1919 in Farnham, Surrey S.W., England. (Hazel Dorothy GRAHAM was born on 6 Apr 1880 in Peshawar, West Bengal, India, christened on 22 Apr 1880 in Peshawar, West Bengal, India and died on 19 Aug 1956 in Chilbolton, , Hampshire, England 2.) John next married Florence Sarah HILLS in Jun 1893 in Chester, England. (Florence Sarah HILLS died on 22 May 1918 in 48 Evelyn Gardems, South Kensington, London, England.) |
