Our beloved mother, Martha, was born December 3, 1908, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Achilles A. Ramseyer and Marie Hofmann Ramseyer. She was the youngest of 10 children. She died peacefully in her sleep on August 31, 2004, while living in her daughter's house.
Martha and Spencer were the parents of five children: Paul Searcy (Marjorie) of Lindon, UT; Joan Weiler (Charles) of Salt Lake City; Donald Searcy (deceased); Ralph Searcy (deceased); Linda Hall (Gary) of Boise, ID; 25 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and one great-great- grandchild.
As a child she loved to spend time at the cabin in Emigration Canyon with her parents and brothers and sisters.
She graduated from Granite High School and attended the University of Utah where she received her two-year teaching certificate. She taught elementary school for eight years until she married John Spencer Searcy on June 4, 1934, in the Salt Lake Temple. He died October 25, 1995.
In later years she returned to the University of Utah and received her Bachelor's Degree, graduating with her oldest son, Paul in 1961. She taught first grade at Beacon Heights Elementary School until she retired.
A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints she served in the Primary and Relief Society and loved to sing in the ward choir.
Martha married Spencer SEARCY.
