https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eadgyth Edith was born to the reigning English king Edward the Elder by his second wife, Ælfflæd, and hence was a granddaughter of King Alfred the Great. She had an older sister, Eadgifu.
At the request of the East Frankish king Henry the Fowler, who wished to stake a claim to equality and to seal the alliance between the two Saxon kingdoms, her half-brother King Æthelstan sent his sisters Edith and Edgiva to Germany. Otto chose Edith, according to Hrotsvitha a woman "of pure noble countenance, graceful character and truly royal appearance", and married her in 930.
Eadgyth married Otton "Le Grand" DE SAXE Empereur du Saint-Empire, son of 54160850574 Henri Ier "L'Oiseleur" DE GERMANIE . Duc de Saxe and 54160850575 Mathilde (Sainte Maud) VON RINGELHEIM, in 930. (Otton "Le Grand" DE SAXE Empereur du Saint-Empire was born in 912 and died in 973.)
