William PIERS
General Notes: He emigrated to Ireland arriving on 1566.1 He was a soldier.1 He was granted much land, including the Abbey of Tristernagh, County Westmeath.1 In 1569 he was given a reward of 1000 marks for bringing in the head of the Irish chief Shane O'Neill.1 He held the office of Governor of Carrickfergus.1 He held the office of Seneschal of County Antrim.1 William married Ann HOLT. (Ann HOLT was born in Holt Castle, Wales.) |
