Secondly Joseph married, on 19 February 1834, Harrietta Ann, only daughter of General Sir James Watson of Wendover House, Buckinghamshire, Colonel of HM 14th Foot. , and his wife, Sarah, who died at Wendover House on 2 August 1852 aged 76. Sir James was born at Chilton, Buckinghamshire in 1772 and served under the Duke of York in 1783-4. He led the 14th Regiment at the capture of Île de France and Java and also served in the Pindaree and Mahratta Wars, returning to England after 27 years' service in the East in 1837. Sir James died on 14 August 1862 aged about 90 years.
