He took part in the plantation of Munster. He was a naval officer and Captain in the forces sent by Queen Elizabeth I to suppress the Earl of Desmond's rising in Ireland. He was an Undertaker of the plantation of Munster.

Robert married Beatrix CORNWALL, daughter of John CORNWALL of Moore Park, Hertfordshire, England and Unknown.
