1 - The Lamonts descend, traditionally from the O'Neills of Ulster through Aedh Athlamhan (the Handy), king of Ailech 1030-33 whose yr s Anrothan [shown here as his brother as per Skene's 1467 MS] allegedly m __, dau of the 'King of Scots' (probably the local King of Argyll) and perhaps through her aquired Cowal and Knapdale (Argyllshire), where Chiefs of the later clans there including the LAMONTs claim descent from him.
