Muircheartach MacEarca, High King of Ireland from 512 until 534. He defeated the High King Ailill Molt at the Battle of Ocha in 432 ad, and also defeated and killed Oengus, King of Munster in 489 and Duach King of Connacht in 504. He defeated the King of Leinster in 524 whose daughter he took as a mistress. She later murdered him to avenge the death of her father by burning down his house while he lay in a drunken stupor on Hallowe'en in 534. He married Duaibhseach, daughter of his enemy Duach Teangumha. King of Connacht. (www.clancleary.com)
