Captain Godfrey Greene married, firstly, Frances Cox, daughter of Robert Cox, in 1645. He married, secondly, unknown wife (?) circa 1678. He married, thirdly, Elizabeth Gough in February 1681/82. He died on 13 May 1682.
On 3 April 1633 he purchased Old Abbey (the 'inheritance of which is in lease to one John Greene') from Sir Charles Coote. On 13 November 1662 he acquired the lease of Old Abbey, County Limerick from Earl of Orrery. He was a '49 officer' on 22 March 1666. On 23 July 1678 he obtained Moorestown Castle, County Tipperary by patent.
