William de Ferrers, 4th Earl of Derby was born circa 1162 at Ferrers, Derbyshire, England.
He was the son of William de Ferrers, 3rd Earl of Derby and Sybil de Braose.
He married Alice of Chester, daughter of Hugh of Kevelioc, 3rd Earl of Chester and Bertrade de Montfort, in 1192 in a Cheshire, England marriage.
He died on 22 September 1247.2
He gained the title of 4th Earl of Derby after 1189. In 1190/91 he had livery of his lands.
