family in France, several members of which settled in England and Ireland.
Of these Rene de la Donespe, lord of the manor of Lestablere, in Lower
Poitou, left france, in 1685, at the age of 22 and arrived in Holland the
same year, when he entered the military service of the Prince of Orange. He
was an officer in Du Cambon's Foot at the Battle the Boyne, and afterward in
Lifford's Horse. Having settled in Dublin, he died there in 1729, at the age
of 66. His son, Doctor Daniel Letablere, was Dean of Tuam, his youngest
daughter, Esther Charlotte Letablere, who became the eventual heiress of the
family married Edward Litton,Esq., an officer in the 37th Foot, and by him
had three surviving sons-1. Daniel Litton, Esq., of Dublin,2. Edward Litton,
Esq. of Altmore county Tyrone, who wad Master in Chancery, and formerly M.P.
for Coleraine, 3. John Litton, Esq., J.P., of Ardavilling, county Cork.]
Esther married Edward LITTON, son of Thomas LITTON and Hannah LELAND, on 23 Jun 1783 in St Anne' Cathedral, Dublin, Ireland. (Edward LITTON was born on 5 Feb 1754 in Ireland and died in Jul 1809.)
