Maurice FitzRobert FitzHarding de Berkeley was born circa 1120 at Bristol, Gloucestershire, England. He was the son of Robert fitz Harding and Eve (?). He married Alice de Berkeley, daughter of Roger de Berkeley, in 1153/54 at Bristol, Gloucestershire, England. He died on 16 June 1190. He was buried at Church of Brentford, London, England.
Maurice FitzRobert FitzHarding de Berkeley also went by the nick-name of Maurice 'the Make Peace'. He gained the title of Lord de Berkeley [feudal baron] in 1171, confirmed by Queen Eleanor in 1189. He enlarged the Castle of Berkeley. He held the office of Justice Itinerant of Gloucestershire in 1190.
