Sir Michael Pilkington, 6th Bt. was baptised on 25 May 1715. He was the son of Sir Lyon Pilkington, 4th Bt. He married, firstly, Judith Nettleton, daughter of Reverend Charles Nettleton, on 7 December 1738. He married, secondly, Isabella Rawstorne, daughter of William Rawstorne, on 11 November 1772. He died on 6 February 1788 at age 72.
He lived Lupset in Wakefield.1 He succeeded to the title of 6th Baronet Pilkington, of Stanley, near Wakefield and Nether Bradley, also co. Yorks [N.S., 1635] on 11 August 1778.
