Attorney, businessman, and political figure. He graduated from Canada's College of Chambly, studied law and became an attorney. The Albany area's most prominent lawyer, he was also involved in politics, and with Dean Richmond and August Belmont controlled New York's Democratic party during the mid 1800s. Cagger was also prominent in business circles, serving as a Director of the National Commercial Bank and a Trustee of the Atlantic Mutual Life Insurance Company. He died as the result of a carriage accident that occurred while he was riding through New York City's Central Park. After his death his wife and daughter donated Cagger Memorial Hospital, now called St. Peter's, in his memory. Burial: Saint Agnes Cemetery Menands Albany County New York, USA
