Following your e mail concerning the helmet of Col Clementi, I can inform you of the following. The historical information provided to us (Fordingbridge Town Council ) would appear to be correct and, at this stage we cannot add very much to it. The address given,16 Pennys Lane, Fordingbridge is still in occupancy however the present owner has no knowledge of Col Clementi. Although,it would appear, Col Clementi went from 16, Pennys Lane to Linford Park he did in the period of his life live in may locations in the Bournemouth and New Forest area but again no useful information is available. Ancestry.Com would indicate that he married in 1945, to Francis Franklin, at Alton in Hampshire however the record shows no indication of any children...if the record is correct they were 39 and 38 years of age at the time of the marriage, Col Clementi died as stated in 2000, Francis died in 1982. I am seeking a copy of Col Clementi's death certificate to see if it yields any further details, however I do not expect anything significant. I would think your assumption that Douglas Graham may well be the next of kin..is correct. I have found little information regarding Col Clementi's wife and, in my honest opinion,it would appear unnecessary to look much further. One last point which quite "baffled me" was the absence of a last will and testament. I also wonder what happend to his campaign medals? Here at Fordingbridge we are commemorating WW1 in may various ways including an exhibition of memorabilia ,in our museum and, tongue in cheek, I wonder if we could exhibit the helmet at some stage during the next 4 years? I will continue to look for information about Col Clementi and should anything else appear, I will pass it on to you,
Kind Regards Cllr Malcolm Connolly Fordingbridge Town Council
Dennis married Frances Theodora FRANKLIN in Dec 1945 in Alton, Hampshire, England. (Frances Theodora FRANKLIN was born in Jul-Sep 1907 in Fareham, Hampshire, England and died in 1982.)
