Richard Uniacke Bayly's wife, Harriet was the only daughter of Very Rev John Head, Dean of Killaloe. The Head family burial plot, surrounded by railings, lies sheltered from the elements by towering trees. Over the years locals referred to the fact that the grave mounds never sank and attributed this to the fact that the Heads were honest people. Rev Dean Head served as vicar of Ballinaclough from 1807 to 1871 and lived at Ballycrenode. The Head seat was the Derry estate, overlooking Lough Derg. In the early 1840s Head purchased the townlands of Coolagh and Ballyquiveen. The family retained Ballyquiveen until the 1930s.

Dean Head was a patron of Ballinaclough school in the 1830s giving £3 per year for its upkeep. Daniel Patrick, who is buried beside the abbey, was schoolmaster for over thirty years. His home, and school, adjoined the graveyard. He must have been an accomplished teacher, as the level of literacy in Ballinaclough was above the national average. Pupils were taught 'the three rs' – reading, writing, and arithmetic. Book-keeping was also taught while the girls were trained in the skills of needlecraft.

Harriett married Richard Uniacke BAYLY, son of John BAYLY and Mary Elizabeth Helena UNIACKE, on 7 Feb 1837. (Richard Uniacke BAYLY was born on 1 Nov 1806 and died on 21 May 1888.)
