Lt.-Gen. Arthur Nugent Floyer-Acland was born on 7 September 1885.1 He was the son of John Edward Acland and Norah Letitia Nugent Bankes .1 He married Evelyn Stafford Still , daughter of Stafford Still , on 6 December 1913.1 He died on 18 February 1980 at age 94.1 Lt.-Gen. Arthur Nugent Floyer-Acland was baptised with the name of Arthur Nugent Acland. He was educated at Blundell's School, Tiverton, Devon, England .1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches seven times.1 He was decorated with the award of Military Cross (M.C.) in 1915.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General in the service of the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry.1 He was decorated with the award of Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1918.1 He was decorated with the award of Croix de Guerre.1 On 1928 his name was legally changed to Arthur Nugent Floyer-Acland under the will of George William Floyer, of Stafford House.1 He gained the rank of Brigadier in 1936 in the service of the 3rd (Jhelum) Infantry Brigade.1 He fought in the Waziristan Campaign between 1937 and 1938, where he was again mentioned in despatches.1 He gained the rank of Major-General in 1938 in the service of the 43rd Wessex Division (Terrotorial Army).1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He was invested as a Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1940.1 He held the office of Military Secretary to Secretary of State for War between 1940 and 1942.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Dorset in 1953.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Dorset in 1957.1
